JSE-eligible candidates receive priority consideration when jobs are advertised externally in the first instance.
Whilst hiring managers will screen external applications in a good faith attempt to identify any JSE-eligible applicants, it is possible that a JSE-eligible applicant may not be identified in a timely manner before the selection process is completed
The applicant can notify the hiring manager that they have applied on an external jobs board and that they are JSE-eligible. However, it is at the hiring manager’s discretion to include them in the JSE applications and will depend on whether it is reasonably practical for the hiring manager to do so. This will particularly depend on the timing; that is, at what point in the recruitment process the hiring manager becomes aware of the applicant.
That is why we strongly encourage JSE-eligible applicants to apply for roles through the JSE.
